Breidtinden's north face rises dramatically above Mefjorden, and has around 500-metre climbing routes despite the mountain itself being only 1,001 m high.

Keipen is one of my favorite mountains for ski touring on Senja. The first snow of the season arrived in early October, giving us a hint about the ski season that'll come come.

Karl Ove Knausgård (one of Norway's well-known writers) spent a year working as a teacher in the small village Fjordgård. He wrote about many of his experiences there in My Struggle: Book Four (he called the village "Håfjord" in the book).
